Safety Assessments

Improved safety is good for business. Better safety translates into fewer incidents causing damages and lost time, plus better employee morale and lower insurance premiums.

Recognizing the importance of providing a safe work environment for all of our citizens, the Occupational Safety and Health Act was implemented, detailing a number of standards and guidelines that will help an employer comply with the law and create safer workplaces.

Several OSHA regulations apply to the Electric Power Generation, Transmission, and Distribution Industry, namely OSHA General Industry 29 CFR 1910, and particularly OSHA 1910.269.

To help employers discover if their operation and their work procedures measure up to OSHA requirements and meet any due diligence requirements, EITI offers several levels of Safety Assessments. As an unbiased, third-party, EITI can help you work towards compliance without the risks.

SAFETY ASSESSMENT CONSULTATION

  • TELECONFERENCING
Get the direction and feedback you need to complete your own Safety Assessments. With comprehensive checklists and expert advice, our safety consultants will help you work towards OSHA compliance. (Initial consultation is FREE, up to a maximum of 3 hours).

COMPREHENSIVE SAFETY AUDITS

  • AT CLIENT SITE
A thorough, onsite safety audit by an independent safety expert provides the objectivity you need to discern areas for improvement, and provide you with a plan for corrective action based on industry best practices. The degree of complexity of this audit is directly relational to the size of your operation and your specific safety needs.

SELECT THE ASSESSMENT YOU NEED:

WORKPLACE SAFETY INSPECTIONS

  • TYPE: Visual inspection of the condition of your facilities, equipment and tools.
  • OBJECTIVE: To identify hazards that are inherent to the workplace, as well as identify signs of physical deterioration and defects.
  • STRUCTURE: EITI teaches clients' designated inspector(s) hazard recognition and helps client develop a customized inspection form for each distinct location. Client can then implement annual or regular inspections as needed.

WORKER SAFETY PERFORMANCE REVIEWS

  • TYPE: Monitor and coach the workers safety performance while they are doing work.
  • OBJECTIVE: To identify hazards that may be created during work activities, and to verify workers adherence to safe work practices.
  • STRUCTURE: EITI teaches clients' supervisor(s) safe work procedures and how to identify and correct unsafe acts and behaviors. EITI also helps develop a customized Worker Safety Performance Checklist, and teaches the supervisor(s) in safety coaching tactics. Client can then implement regular or quarterly safety performance reviews.

REGULATORY COMPLIANCE SAFETY AUDITS

  • TYPE: Physical inspection of workplace, worker performance, and safety programs.
  • OBJECTIVE: To ensure that the organization’s operations meet various safety regulations, standards and codes.
  • STRUCTURE: EITI provides a comprehensive, third-party, safety audit that
    • (1) Addresses Federal and State safety regulations,
and National safety standards and codes
    • (2) Assesses the level of compliance
    • (3) Identifies non-compliance issues
    • (4) Identifies due diligence defence procedures
    • (5) Provides a corrective action plan to address issues
Client would have a safety action plan that would guide safety activities for the next 3 to 5 years.

SAFETY MANAGEMENT AUDITS

  • TYPE: Physical inspection of workplace and worker performance, plus interviews with selected managers, supervisors and safety specialists, and a comprehensive review of documentation and procedures.
  • OBJECTIVE: Intensive audit that goes beyond regulatory compliance and the mere existence of safety policies and programs. This audit assesses the performance and effectiveness of the current safety programs.
  • STRUCTURE: Critical evaluation of existing safety program documentation, the application of the program, the achievements and successes, improvement opportunities and prioritized recommendations. Clients are awarded with a safety performance score that recognizes achievement and directs further activities.
